At Wellspring Skincare, we understand that facial wrinkles can often make you feel less confident in your own skin. Wrinkles are a part of the normal ageing process. However, there are many steps you can take to prevent wrinkles from forming too early. Further, many treatments work to correct wrinkles that have already developed.
Every time our skin moves and a crease forms, it is ever so slightly "damaged". When the skin relaxes, the elastin and collagen act to smooth the skin to it's original state. But over time our skin loses its ability to produce elastin and collagen. This loss reduces our ability to "heal" from normal skin movement.
Over years of repeated facial movement, creases can no longer heal, and wrinkles form. This is why wrinkles are so common in the face. Facial wrinkles most commonly form as smile lines, frown lines, crows feet, glabella lines (11s), and forehead lines.
But wrinkles can occur all over the body. Arms, legs, and neck are all common areas of concern. While wrinkles on the body are more challenging, we offer many effective treatments to help.
The best way to treat facial wrinkles is to prevent premature aging with routine skin care. Our team can help with your unique wrinkle situation. We evaluate your concerns and create a treatment plan just for you.

Causes of Wrinkles:
The primary cause of wrinkles is loss of skin integrity because of reduced collagen and elastin production. This loss of collagen and elastin leads to sagging skin that causes skin to fold and ultimately wrinkle. UV radiation is the main cause of collagen loss and therefore premature aging. Recent studies have shown even visible light to lead to collagen loss as well.
It is critical to protect your skin from the sun, whether you are outdoors or not. You must protect your skin is you want to prevent deep wrinkles. Wearing sunscreen (especially on the face and neck), common sense skin protection, will help keep your skin naturally wrinkle free. In addition to sun exposure, air pollution and tobacco smoke cause premature aging of the skin.
-
Aging: Reduced collagen and elastin production, decreased skin elasticity
-
Sun exposure: UV damage accelerates aging process
-
Lifestyle factors: Smoking, poor diet, dehydration, stress
-
Repeated facial expressions: Muscle movement leads to expression lines

We want you to feel confident if your skin
Wrinkle Treatments at Wellspring Skincare:
We offer many wrinkle treatments at Wellspring.
Botox
Botox is a popular FDA-approved wrinkle treatment. Botox is a brand name in a category called neurotoxins. Neurotoxins use small injections of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax facial muscles, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Neurotoxins work to prevent the repeated facial movements that cause wrinkles in the first place. This can stop wrinkles from forming, and give existing wrinkles more time to heal without folding.
Botox is not the only botulinum toxin type. At Wellspring Skincare, we have various options to meet each patient's needs, not just Botox. In addition to Botox, we carry Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are another effective way to address facial wrinkles and restore volume loss that occurs naturally with age. Some wrinkles become so deep and pronounced, the body isn't able to heal no matter how much time you give it. Further, wrinkles can become permanently creased due to loss of facial volume to hold the skin up.
These large, deep wrinkles are most common in the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds (lines from nose to corner of mouth). You must replace the volume under the skin fold when deep wrinkles form. This volume will support the skin into a relaxed position. Filler serves as this volume replacement.
Hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body, composes most fillers. Hyaluronic acid acts to hydrates and "fill" the skin. If you have an aversion to HA filler, we also offer plasma filler. We make plasma filler from your own plasma, a natural alternative.
PDO Thread Lifts
PDO thread lifts are a nonsurgical option to lift and tighten sagging skin. During a thread lift, one inserts threads into the skin, pulling up and back to lift and support sagging skin. The procedure is quick and relatively painless, and can last up to 2 years.
PDO Threads are also an option for addressing body winkles. Threads also address wrinkles in the arms, neck, and legs by supporting loose skin.
Microneedling
Microneedling creates tiny micro trauma in the skin. This trauma stimulates a recovery response in the skin, producing collegen and elastin. Microneedling is minimally invasive, and designed to combat the signs of aging and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. This increase in essential proteins leads to firmer, smoother skin with diminished fine lines and wrinkles.
Topical Retinoids
Topical retinoids are first line for photoaging given their robust clinical research and results. Retinoids are a potent vitamin A that increase collagen production, induce epidermal hyperplasia, and decrease production of discolored skin. Tretinoin in the most potent and best studied retinoid that comes in a variety of formulations and strengths. The main side effects are dryness, skin flaking, irritation and photosensitivity.
We recommend a retinoid to almost all our clients, due to its effectiveness and preventing and treating wrinkles.
Laser Resurfacing
Laser treatments have a double anti-aging effect. It treats sun damage as well as reduces fine lines. Lasers work in a similar way to microneedling, they stimulate a recovery response in the skin and promote growth and healing. You must use caution with laser treatments, as not all skin colors can tolerate them safely.
Our HALO Laser treatment ablates the outer layer of skin away, leaving behind younger, healthier skin layers.
Chemical Peels
While not a first line intervention for wrinkles, we have a lot of success in removing fine wrinkles with chemical peels. Again, the trauma caused by the peel stimulates production of collagen and elastin. These help the skin recover from existing wrinkles.
