Who it's for
Is dermaplaning right for you?
Dermaplaning solves two problems at once: the dead-cell layer that dulls skin and blocks your products, and the vellus hair (peach fuzz) that catches foundation and diffuses light. It suits nearly every skin type, makes an unmatched pre-event treatment, and it's safe through pregnancy when many actives aren't. Active breakouts need to calm first: a blade over inflamed skin helps nobody, and we'll say so and reschedule.
- Makeup that catches on fuzz or flakes by midday
- Dull skin that stopped responding to products
- A big event where skin needs to photograph well
- Pregnancy-safe exfoliation when acids are off the table
How dermaplaning works & what to expect
Prep. Skin is cleansed and degreased so the blade glides on a clean, dry surface.
Plane. Short, feather-light strokes at a precise angle lift dead skin and vellus hair section by section. About 20 minutes of actual planing.
Finish. Soothing serums and SPF go onto the freshest skin they’ll ever meet, and absorb like it.
What to know
Dermaplaning risks, downtime & aftercare
In trained hands, dermaplaning is one of the safest treatments we offer; the realistic downsides are minor: brief pinkness, and a nick is rare with professional technique. Freshly planed skin drinks in products and sun alike, so SPF is non-negotiable for the following days. Active acne, cold sores or irritated skin postpone the treatment, not complicate it.
No, the hair does not grow back thicker
The myth that keeps people from this treatment deserves a straight answer: vellus hair is fine, soft and colorless because of the follicle that makes it, and cutting it changes nothing about that follicle. The regrowth can feel different for a few days simply because a cut edge is blunt rather than tapered; then it's exactly the peach fuzz you had before. Decades of clinical use say the same thing: no thicker, no darker, no faster.
Dermaplaning vs at-home face shaving
A drugstore facial razor removes hair; professional dermaplaning removes hair and the dead-cell layer, with a surgical-grade blade at an angle and pressure that home tools can’t safely replicate. The difference shows in the result (true exfoliation, not just de-fuzzing) and in the safety record on textured or delicate areas. Home razors are fine between visits; they’re maintenance, not the treatment.
Pricing
How pricing works for dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is one of our most accessible treatments: priced per session, with a natural discount when added to a facial or DiamondGlow, since your skin is already prepped. Exact numbers when you book, or at a complimentary skin consultation.
We also offer several ways to spread treatment costs over time, including buy-now-pay-later plans. Ask about financing at your consultation.
Common questions
Dermaplaning FAQs
Will my facial hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. This is the most persistent myth in skincare. Cutting vellus hair doesn’t change the follicle that produces it. It grows back exactly as fine and light as before; it can feel slightly blunt for a few days, and that’s the whole story.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
Not at all. Most patients describe a light scraping sensation, like a credit card gliding on skin. Many find it relaxing. No numbing, no recovery.
How long do results last?
The smoothness holds three to four weeks as skin naturally renews and fuzz regrows. Rebooking every 4–6 weeks keeps you permanently ahead of the regrowth.
Can I wear makeup afterward?
The same day, yes, and it will apply better than it ever has. That’s why brides and event-goers book dermaplaning two to three days out.
Is dermaplaning safe during pregnancy?
Yes. It’s purely mechanical, no acids or actives involved, which makes it the exfoliation of choice when pregnancy takes peels and retinoids off the table.
