Lip flip risks, downtime & aftercare
Side effects are usually limited to pinpoint redness or a small bruise at the injection sites. For the first several days, straws, whistling and big sips can feel a little clumsy while the muscle adjusts. It's temporary, and most patients stop noticing within a week. We review your history first, as with any Botox treatment.
Lip flip vs lip filler: which one?
They're different procedures solving different problems. A lip flip uses a few units of Botox to relax the upper lip outward: more lip visible, zero volume added, results in days, gone in about two months. Lip filler places hyaluronic acid gel in the lips: real volume and shape you can dial from subtle to statement, lasting six months to two years depending on the product.
Plenty of patients start with a flip to preview the feeling, then decide about filler later. The two also work together: flip for the roll, filler for the body. Whatever your goal is, that's the one we dose for.

A lip flip on its own is one simple flat price, no unit math. It's one of the most accessible ways to change your smile. If you're already coming in for Botox in other areas, we simply add the few units the flip takes. You'll get exact numbers at your complimentary consultation, before you commit to anything.

How long does a lip flip last?
About 6–8 weeks. That’s shorter than Botox elsewhere because the lip muscle is very active and dosed lightly on purpose.
Does a lip flip add volume?
No. It rolls the upper lip slightly outward so more of it shows, especially when you smile. If you want actual volume, lip filler is the right tool, and we’ll tell you that plainly at your consult.
Will drinking through a straw feel weird?
For the first several days, possibly. Straws, whistling and tight-lipped sips use the muscle we just relaxed. It’s temporary and most patients stop noticing within a week.
How many units does it take?
Typically just a handful, a fraction of a forehead treatment. The exact number depends on your anatomy and how much roll you want.
Can I combine a lip flip with lip filler?
Yes. It’s a common pairing: the flip turns the upper lip outward while filler shapes and adds body. We’ll map whether one or both serve your goal at your consultation.
