Expect possible swelling and bruising for a day or two. Structural areas typically swell less than lips. Firmer fillers here can occasionally be felt (not seen) in the first weeks as they integrate. Structural work uses firm hyaluronic acid fillers (adjustable and dissolvable) or Radiesse, a calcium-based option that also stimulates collagen but doesn't dissolve. We walk through that trade before choosing your product. We review your history first.
Chin filler & profile balance
The chin is the most under-credited feature on the face: a chin that sits even a few millimeters back makes noses read larger, jawlines read softer and necks read fuller, which is why profile balancing so often starts there, not at the nose. A conservative amount of projection filler can bring the whole profile into proportion, and chin filler can also elongate a shorter face, balancing everything above it. It's one of the most immediately satisfying treatments we do.
Jawline definition
Along the jaw, filler does two jobs: it sharpens the line itself, from chin to jaw angle, and it fills the small pre-jowl hollows that break the line as volume shifts with age. Product-wise, jawlines get our firmest tools: structural Juvéderm formulations or Radiesse, whose calcium-based structure and collagen stimulation suit this area particularly well. For jawlines softened by muscle pull rather than structure, the Nefertiti lift treats the cause and pairs naturally with structural work; the consult sorts out which side of that line your jaw is on.

Will jawline filler make my face look wider?
Not when placed for definition. The goal is a cleaner line and sharper angle, not bulk. Front-on width only builds if we deliberately dose the jaw angle for it, which some patients want and some don’t. Your goal sets the plan.
How much filler does a jawline take?
More than a lip appointment (jawlines are long and the filler is structural), but one to two syringes can make a striking difference. The consult gives you the real number for your anatomy before anything is opened.
Chin filler vs chin implant?
Filler is reversible, surgery-free and done in under an hour. The trade is maintenance every year or so versus a permanent implant. Many patients use filler to preview the change an implant would make; some never need the second step.
How long does it last?
Structural areas hold filler far longer than mobile ones: 12 to 24 months is typical, with maintenance visits needing less product than the first build.
Can it fix my jowls?
It helps the hollows beside them: filling the pre-jowl notch restores the jawline’s sweep. True jowl laxity responds better to threads or the combination approach, and we’ll tell you which yours is.
