Day by Day Halo Results
HALO TREATMENTS at WELLSPRING
As we age, our skin loses its natural elastin and collagen. These are what give skin its shape and support. Over time, the skin starts thinning and blood vessels become more visible. The skin also develops sun spots and irregularities.
The Halo laser by Sciton is an ablative skin resurfacing treatment. It is the first and only hybrid fractionated laser. The Halo platform utilizes two different wavelengths, combining the benefits of both ablative and non-ablative therapy. The best part is that halo is safe on all skin types, including darker skin types.
Skin Resurfacing
The Halo platform utilizes two different wavelengths, combining the benefits of both ablative (removes layers of skin) and non-ablative therapy. In addition to receiving all the benefits you would see with a traditional BBL treatment, Halo combines an ablative wavelength which synergistically works to further intensify your results. We combine topical prescription anesthetic with a powerful cooling device to minimize patient discomfort. You also have the option for additional numbing modalities or nitrous oxide, to further relax you. Results are noticeable in as little as seven days and can be very dramatic.
Halo treatments target uneven skin tone similar to the BBL, with with an additional capacity to remove the top layer of skin, where most fine lines, wrinkles, and skin damage exist. This leaves behind "fresh" newer skin that is free of the fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes. We recommencement the Halo treatment every 1-2 years, whereas the BBL should be done multiple times a year for best results.

How does Halo work?
There are two main types of lasers, non-ablative and ablative laser treatments. Ablative laser remove the top layer of skin. People commonly know these as Co2 lasers. Intense pulsed light (IPL) or BBL lasers keep the top layer of skin intact, and are known them as non-ablative lasers.
Halo is a hybrid ablative laser resurfacing treatment that works by creating ablative channels within the skin. The intact skin then regenerates and heals the ablated areas. This leads to less downtime compared to traditional ablative lasers.
Additionally, Halo targets deeper layer of skin to treat sun damage and other pigmentary issues. Patients are truly getting the benefits of two kinds of lasers within one treatment.
Sciton has designed a hand piece and software that custom maps each patients skin to deliver precise heat energy. This ensures that results will be consistent and safe.

What should I expect during my laser treatment?
Prior to your treatment we will do an in depth consultation. At this point we will discuss the procedure and the necessary aftercare.
To minimize discomfort, we apply topical prescription anesthetics for about 1 hour prior to your treatment. You also have the option for additional cooling modalities or nitrous oxide, to further relax you.
Your skin will then be cleansed and prepped. We then proceed by mapping out the treatment area with the machine. The actual procedure lasts about 30 minutes.
What are common side effects of treatment?
Results are noticeable in as little as seven days and can be very dramatic. You can expect your results to continue to improve over the next several months.
With traditional treatments you had to choose between lengthy downtime and great results versus shorter down time and marginal results. With Halo, you don't have to choose between the two. The recovery time varies but typically there is only a few days of downtime.
Common side effects of treated areas include redness, swelling, and tightness, similar to a sunburn. These sensations improves over a few hours to days.
After a few days, you may notice that your skin is dry and flakey. This can have the appearance of sandpaper. These irregularities will make their way to the surface of the skin and flake away by days 4 or 5.
During the healing process, you will give detailed instructions on what to expect and what products to use. We recommend a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and a sun screen while you are healing. You should avoid direct sunlight for 2 weeks after your procedure.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on many factors and the extent of skin laxity and sun damage. Most patients have dramatic improvements with only 1-2 treatments. Sometimes patients will require a series of treatments to see the results they are looking for.
